Pick'em Poker Odds

The odds of Pick'em Poker are easily calculated based on the paytable. Then based on the probability and return it's possible to calculate Pick'em strategy. There are some important things to remember:

  • always play maximum coins for best odds (playing from 1 to 4 coins will decrease theoretical payout by 1%)
  • only full pay version of Pick'em will provide 99.95% payout
  • double up option on winning hands features no casino advantage (it's 50:50) so you can actually increase the theoretical return using this option, on the other hand it increases variance pretty dramatically so you will need huge bankroll in order to be able to take full advantage of it without losing your whole bankroll

Double Up Pickem Odds

Here is the probability table for full pay Pick'em which can be only found at very few RTG casinos. You need to multiply probability and return values by 100 to get the percentage. So for example the probability of hitting Three of a Kind is 0.030015*100 = 3,0015%. The cumulative probability of 1 is 100% and the cumulative return of 0.999531 is the 99.95% theoretical payout.

The table below shows payout when playing non full pay (straight pays 50 - 5 coins, 10 - 1 coin) version of Pick'em Poker with max (5) coins. The decrease in return is caused by lowered payout for straight (50 playing 5 coins - 10 per coin, down from 11 per coin in full pay version). This is the most common version found online at majority of RTG casinos. For the best possible theoretical return make sure to play at the casinos providing full pay Pick'em  (above table), to see these casinos click on the blog tag "full pay Pick'em" in the right column or click here.

Another probability table below shows the decrease of theoretical return when playing non full pay Pick'em available at most RTG casinos with less then 5 coins. Similarly like when playing full pay game with less than 5 coins the return decreases approximately by 0.5%. This again confirms that in order to get the best possible odds on Pick'em it's important to play maximum coins.

Lately there started to appear another version of Pick'em in some RTG casinos including Club World Group casinos. Unfortunately this version offers decreased 75 coins full house payout (when playing 5 coins) and the theoretical return is thus even lower than the previous (50 payout for straight 5 coins) version that is still more common in RTG casinos.

And the last table shows the decrease in theoretical payout when playing less than 5 coins which is cause by the lower payout for Royal Flush and Straight Flush. So to get the maximum possible payout make sure to always play 5 coins and play full pay Pick'em where full house should pay 90 and straight 55 coins. And at the same time playing perfect strategy.

The probability of probability tables only confirmed the two most important principles when playing Pick'em Poker. In order to get the best Pick'em odds - highest possible theoretical return, it is essential to play full play Pick'em version (with Straight paying 55 - 5 coins) and always play maximum coins. The table above shows that when the game is not chosen properly and less than 5 coins is played per hand the decrease of payout can lead to 98.44% return from the best possible 99.95%. Also remember that you need to use proper Pick'em strategy when playing. Playing bad strategy can lead to considerably lower payout.

Full Pay Pick'em Poker - 5 Coins

Plus it never hurts trying Pick'em Poker strategy either in free play mode or using WinPoker video poker training software. No deposit casino bonuses that can be used for video poker games are extremely rare unfortunately. But you can use no deposit bonuses on other allowed games like slots to complete the wagering requirements and then part of the winnings (there is usually maximum winnings limit) can be then used to play Pick'em. This way it is try the game for real money without risk. Playing with "play" money at online casinos is a bit tricky - it hurts really bad if you hit Four of a Kind, Straight Flush or Royal Flush and win just bunch of "play" money. Those who mean it with strategy and playing Pick'em seriously can take advantage of deposit bonuses that can help tip the odds in favor of the player.
